Mentorship

Our children deserve a kind word, a pat on the back, someone there to show that they care or lend a listening ear. These are things many adults enjoy and take refudge in the fact that someone’s there for them. We at BCF believe that every child should be afforded the same comforts. Our ground breaking mentorship program offers just that and much more. Each child in our mentoring program is required to participate in our monthly community services projects and attend our monthly weekend workshops. Each child will be required to complete an intake package and will be placed with a Mentor that best fits their personality and needs. We offer one on one Mentoring in schools as well to any child who fits the criteria. Anyone interested in volunteering please go to our 'contact us' page to inquire.
Broken Chain's accepts referrals from the following sources:
- Social Workers
- School Counselors
- Probation/Parole Officers
- Family Members of Youth
We encourage college students to volunteer as we will offer letters of participation to your school for proper credit.
We are a member of the Virginia Mentoring Partnership and each of our Mentors are required to complete an initial 40 hours of training and 16 hours yearly. All Mentors are screened for criminal history and through child protective services.
